Editorial Standards
ScriptureDepth is built to help people study the Bible more deeply. The quality and trustworthiness of our content matters. This page explains how we create content, how we use AI, how we handle errors, and where we draw theological lines.
Who we are
ScriptureDepth is an independent Bible study tool built by Henry Evemilje, based in Bergen, Norway. It is not affiliated with any denomination, church, or theological institution.
The site was built out of a conviction that serious Bible study should not require expensive software or seminary training. The goal is to make rigorous, text-grounded study accessible to ordinary Christians.
How content is created
Chapter summaries
The chapter summaries for all 1,189 chapters of the Bible were generated using AI and reviewed before publication. Each summary aims to identify the key themes, pivotal verses, and narrative context of the chapter without imposing a single theological interpretation.
Topic pages
Topic pages draw together relevant verses from across the Old and New Testaments on a given theme. The selection and synthesis is AI-assisted and reviewed for balance. We try to represent how the whole of Scripture speaks to a topic rather than cherry-picking verses that support one view.
Blog articles
Blog articles are written with editorial intent — covering how to study the Bible, seasonal Christian themes, and guides to specific passages or books. Articles use AI assistance for research and drafting and are reviewed before publication.
AI chat responses
The AI Bible chat generates answers in real time. Responses are not pre-written or human-reviewed before delivery. The model is instructed to cite specific verses and maintain doctrinal neutrality, but it can make errors. See our How We Use AI page for full details.
Doctrinal stance
ScriptureDepth is designed to serve Christians across traditions. We hold to the authority and reliability of Scripture and aim to present the Bible's teaching clearly — without taking sides in debates that divide sincere believers.
On matters where Christians have genuine theological disagreement (such as baptism, eschatology, spiritual gifts, or specific interpretations of difficult passages), we try to acknowledge the range of faithful positions rather than advocate for one.
We do not represent a specific denomination, theological system, or church tradition. Our content is intended to be useful to evangelical, reformed, Catholic, Orthodox, and broadly Protestant readers, while acknowledging that some content will reflect the perspectives of mainstream Protestant scholarship.
Bible translations
The AI chat uses ESV as its primary translation, with NIV and KJV as fallbacks. Translation abbreviations are included with every quoted verse. Chapter summaries and topic pages may draw on multiple translations.
We do not endorse one translation above others for all purposes. Different translations serve different needs, and readers are encouraged to consult multiple versions for serious study.
Accuracy and corrections
We take accuracy seriously. If you find an error in a chapter summary, topic page, blog article, or AI response that is clearly wrong or misleading, please contact us. We will review it and correct it if needed.
AI-generated chat responses are not individually monitored or logged for correction, but feedback about systematic issues in how the AI responds is welcome and acted on.
Affiliate content
Some pages on ScriptureDepth contain affiliate links — typically to Bible study resources, books, or tools we recommend. When you buy through one of these links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
Affiliate relationships do not affect our recommendations. We only recommend resources we believe are genuinely useful for Bible study. See our full affiliate disclosure.
