Revelation 20

"And the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever."

Revelation 20:10

Summary

Revelation 20 describes the binding of Satan for a thousand years by an angel from heaven. This millennial reign is characterized by the saints reigning with Christ. After the thousand years, Satan is released and gathers nations for battle, but fire from heaven consumes them. The chapter culminates in the final judgment where the dead, great and small, stand before the great white throne. Books are opened, and the dead are judged according to their deeds. Death and Hades are thrown into the lake of fire, which is the second death. Ultimately, only those whose names are written in the book of life escape this fate. The chapter underscores themes of divine justice, the ultimate defeat of evil, and the hope of eternal life with God.
